Circadian lighting shifts colour temperature through the day: cool, blue-rich light (5,000–6,500K) supports alertness during work hours, and warm light below about 3,000K encourages evening rest. Smart lamps automate the shift. This guide covers the smart desk lamps we recommend, with Amazon UK prices checked in September 2026. The Dyson Lightcycle Morph and Govee Smart Desk Lamp Pro we used to list are not currently on Amazon UK.
1. Xiaomi Mi Smart LED Desk Lamp 1S: best value
App scheduling through Mi Home and voice-assistant compatibility for £87.76 on Amazon UK, rated 4.6 stars from 78 ratings (usually dispatched in a few days). The Pro model we used to recommend is not listed, so this is the verified alternative.
2. Philips Hue Go 2.0: best for connected homes
A portable smart light for £65, rated 4.6 stars from nearly 2,900 ratings. It integrates with an existing Hue setup and supports Adaptive Lighting to shift colour temperature through the day. You need a Hue bridge for the full feature set.
3. BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2: best for monitor-based work
A monitor-mounted bar that removes desk footprint and screen glare, with auto-brightness and a 2700–6500K range. £149, rated 4.7 stars from 1,259 ratings. It adjusts to ambient light rather than running an app schedule.
4. Govee smart table lamp: best for Matter and voice control
A touch-control RGBICWW smart table lamp with Matter and Alexa compatibility for £69.99, rated 4.7 stars from more than 2,100 ratings. It works well as ambient and evening light, though it is a table lamp rather than a dedicated task lamp.
5. Yeelight smart LED desk lamp: best budget smart desk lamp
A plug-in smart desk lamp for £59.99, rated 4.3 stars from 32 ratings. A cheaper way into scheduled colour temperature, though with few ratings so far.
Testing criteria
We looked at colour temperature range, brightness (a minimum of around 400 lux at the desk), automation capability, build quality and the presence of physical controls for when the app is not to hand.
Verdict
The Xiaomi Mi Smart LED Desk Lamp 1S offers the full circadian colour range and reliable scheduling at a sensible price. If you already have a Hue system, the Hue Go is the natural fit; for monitor-based work, the Halo 2 is the tidiest.
